This and That

So Bam still has a fever. It's now Thursday night and it's still here. So we ended up at the Dr's today. I can handle it for awhile, but after awhile, it's old and I want an explanation. They ended up testing him for strep (-) and then came to the conclusion that it's roseola. We're hoping that this is it and that he will drop the fever tomorrow. I'd really like to take the kids trick or treating in their awesome costumes that Grandma A made them, but I also don't want to infect anyone at the party if it's something else. At least no one else in the house has gotten sick yet.

His fever seems to go away with meds and he acts like himself when he's on the meds, until today. Today we decided that we were really tired. We fell asleep on Dad shortly after breadkfast. Dad loved it, but wasn't as excited about it when he realized that this was Ban's game plan for the day. We ended up waking him up after 2 1/2 hours (he normally doesn't take a morning nap). He also slept on the way to and home from the Dr. and then acted like he wanted a nap when we got home, but that got vetoed. Poor little guy, hopefully the sleep will help kick whatever it is.

So we finally carved a pumpkin tonight and the one child that I didn't think would go near it, was the only child that wanted anything to do with it. She absolutely loved it. She played in the gook for probably 45 minutes.
So I had planned on attempting to potty train Sugar soon.Sweet had shown interest in it a few months ago and then suddenly decided it was no good. Sugar has been having fun sitting on the potty lately, but Sweet was still timid, until last night. Last night she announced potty and took off for the bathroom. She pooed on the potty (very exciting, you'll understand when you have to potty train a child). So we cheered and she got a Dib (they are great little individual treats) which have become the special treat for pooing on the potty. Today she asked to sit on the potty about 4 times but no results. Then tonight, she comes over to me and says potty, but has already done her business. I explain that it's too late for the potty because she already went in her diaper. This was traumatizing. We demanded a treat in tears for atleast 30 minutes. I guess it's going to take awhile to figure out the whole treat is for using the potty and not just for pooing. Hmm This should be lots of fun.

A picture of Sugar from earlier this month, just because I can't leave anyone out. Plus I love this picture. He was watching leaves fall from the trees.

Lastly I had to include a picture of Bam in his coat. It's a hand me down from Sugar. Somehow I didn't think to look for a winter coat for Bam. I must have just been planning on him fitting into Sugar's old stuff, but that's certainly not going to work. This coat won't fit him for long, but it's cute while it lasts.

Good Day, Long Night, Yucky Morning

This is what I woke up to this morning. I am in no way ready for this kind of weather.

Yesterday I took the kids to my former places of employment. The clinic had said that they wanted to have the kids and I for lunch. It was very nice. The kids behaved well, which I am very thankful for. Three small children running around a physical therapy office could have been ugly. Afterward we went to the high school that I worked at. It was good to see everyone one more time and get to show off the kids. The kids had a blast in the AD office. Plus they were worn out be the time we left and conked out on the way home. Only problem was Bam woke up from his nap with a fever of 104, which didn't make for a fun night. Now I'm hoping that no one is sick for Trick or Treat.

Here's a few pictures for the day. They were from earlier this week.

Sweet loves to dress up. She's constantly putting on anything and everything that she can find.

Aren't they cute together?

They can be so sweet together. The boys are definitely starting to get closer. Sugar is such a sweety at times. This morning Sugar and Sweet were kissing in the bath tub. Too cute. Sugar also has to give everyone a kiss before he goes to bed at night. I am so lucky to have these little ones.

Trying again

I haven't posted in a LONG time. Things get kind of crazy around here and posting is not at the top of the list. I'm going to try to be better about it. For now here are some cute pics I took. We still new to get new professional pictures taken. Hopefully it will happen soon, now that I'm a stay at home mom.

I'll try to refrain from posting a million pictures and just post a few of my favorites. I love taking pictures of them. They are soo cute after all. These are all from this month.

Isn't she a doll? She loves hats.

This is definitely one of my favorites of him. We had so much fun in the leaves that day.

My goofy strong willed child up close. How can you not love that face?

We went to boo at the zoo Friday to meet some other Guatemalan adoptive families. I think it would have been a lot of fun, but the weather was horrible, cold and rainy. It was nice to get out and meet some other families. Maybe we'll do another function with more success. Here are some previews of Halloween costumes.

Pink Poodle. Very fitting since pink is her favorite color.

My little rooster. Too cute.

Align CenterMy little monkey. Need I say more?

This and That

Gotta love teething biscuits.

Well Bam mastered the stairs and is off. It's kind of nice that he can go where he wants and amuse himself now. But of course there's a downside. He gets into everything. I don't remember having this much trouble teaching Sweet and Sugar what they were not allowed to touch. Using his full name usually makes his stop for a moment, but he just stops turns and smiles at you and then goes back to whatever he was getting in trouble for.My little ham.

On the other hand Sugar has returned. I have desperately missed the sweet fun loving little boy who was replaced by a whiny, ornery child during the teething process. I'm happy to say that his last tooth is about 1/2 way in. Yeah! Emerson also got stung for the first time this week. Poor little guy swelled so bad, scared me.
Sweet's hair almost all up in one band.

Unfortunately Sweet is starting to get another tooth again and is whiny. She doesn't get so ornery like Sugar, but everything makes her cry. Sweet rarely cries. When she's teething, there are days when she rarely isn't crying. Chuck decided to take Sweet for a haircut last night while I was at work. They ended up cutting quite a bit off which made me a little sad since her hair was finally getting long enough to put all of it up together. Oh well it will grow back.
Playing nice together.

Sweet and Sugar have both begun to talk a little more. They're still not initiating is so much, but can repeat some words if you ask them. It is a start.
Sweet has found that she can stick her head through the whole, but has problems getting it out.

week of change

Transmission fixed. We are no longer stuck in reverse.Saturday Bam finally figured out forward motion. Since then we are off and moving. Monday we started pulling up on everything. We are no longer happy it seems unless we are standing. We have also attempted to crawl up the stairs several times now.

Sugar has been quite the challenge lately. Poor child always seems to be my challenge. Lately I think we've spent just as much time in time out as playing. Hitting, throwing, kicking, biting, hair pulling, yelling, etc all have become some of his favorite things. I'm not sure what is up. If it's teething, I'm thankful that he's working on his last tooth. If it's because the weather took a downward spiral so we haven't been out playing the last couple of days, I'm happy that summer's coming and dreading next fall all at the same time. Whatever it is, I hope it remedies itself soon.

Tomorrow is also our anniversary. We've been married 4 years now and together for 10. If someone had told that a blind date was going to turn into this in 10 years I would have said they were crazy. Now I think we're going crazy. We've decided not to do gifts this year. Chuck did stop and get us a strawberry casada cake from Rito's on his way home, but we've decided to try to get away for a night or two this summer. We'll see if it happens, it's a good goal, even though I'm not sure I can imagine a night without the kids, I might have a breakdown.

What you cost me

There was a post on adoption.com about a little girl asking her mom "how much did I cost?" It got me thinking.

Sweet and Sugar cost me (some of these are also from Bam)
Lots of sleepless nights praying for women thousands of miles away who were having to make the hardest decision of their lives
Lots of sleepless nights praying that you would be home soon
Lots and Lots of brain cells
Our spare money (I'm not sure what that was, but I know it was there before kids)
Our spare time (same as above)
My ability to do things last minute
My ability to pick up and leave the house quickly
My ability to go shopping with only one cart
My clean house

They have cost us this and thousands of other things, but I wouldn't trade them for the world. I wouldn't change anything, because they have given us a million more wonderful things.

Family Day!

One year ago today these two little ones were placed in our arms forever.A lot can change in one year.
It has been a hectic year, but I wouldn't change any of it. I get to wake up to having an incredible family every day. Watching them grow and learn is truly amazing.
